- The Doc is in... -

...it's time for a check-up annnnnd a BIRTHDAY PARTY!  La-tee-dahhhh, I'm gonna check your ears, check your eyes, find out how much you've grownnnnn... [I'll cut it off there, but rest assured: I could sing this song backwards while standing upside down in my sleep!]

But by the way, how is it that my little baby Harp-dog is turning THREE next week?!  I thought for sure she'd want another Minne Mouse birthday party this year, but she shocked me a few months ago when she said, "I wan a Doc McStussins birfday!" and she's stuck to her word ever since! I guess I shouldn't be surprised; she's been a little caregiver ever since she was old enough to play. My mom always thought Harper was going to grow up and work in a morgue, because when she was younger she put all her babies/animals face down on the floor and covered them with a blanket from head to toe. Now she says she wants to be "a mommy and a nurse" when she grows up [be still my heart! Although there goes all our holidays and weekends with our kids/grandkids when we're old fogies...dang nursing hours!]; but this is not at all surprising to me, either, because Harper's days literally revolve around her babies/animals and their feeding/sleeping/pooping schedules. She is constantly rocking, feeding, cuddling, and changing diapers. She has the most gentle and loving spirit mixed with her Dad's OCD, and it's truly amazing to watch her pretend play while she cares so deeply and takes care of inanimate objects so intricately...  She will be a great mommy and nurse, no doubt!

...But in the mean time, she's definitely rocking it as a mini-Doc McStuffins! :)
In summary of the clinic hours today, nothing was wrong with the snail: "Her is hell-fee!"
The dog was "hell-fee" too, but still needed a shot for some reason...
...and speaking of that, shots all around! [Not in the college context, hah.] Doc Harper loves giving shots and thinks it's the cure-all for any/all ailments!
"'Dis mermaid, her got water in her ears cuz, ummm, cuz her went under-neef 'da poooooool"...
...but no worries, Doc Harper got her ears all cleaned out while "her was in the howse-petal."
Then this elephant had a broken leg...but of course, not for long. "Him all better, Mommy! Put he over dere, cuz he all better." ;)
All the toys were good as new after their doctor visits!

Mommy, Daddy, and Sissy love you, Doc Harper!!! May you always always have a huge heart for others! :-*

- I wan' go hotel... '

I was cleaning up dinner the other night while Brian was washing Harper's curl mop in the kitchen sink. I glanced over and her head was all suds'ed up and she was smiling from ear to ear at the sight of her dad [the favorite parent, of course], and I said, "Harper, do you like living in this house with Mommy and Daddy?!" She immediately lost her smile and furrowed her eyebrows and said, "No. I wan' go hotel."

...Word.

Silverthorne in June!

Destin in September!

...And Chicago last weekend!

We aren't world travelers by any means; it's just the way the cookie crumbled. But it feels like we've been here, there, and everywhere over the past few months; and Harper's been LOVING each trip! Brian's cousin got married in Chicago last weekend, so a group of about thirty [?] family members rode the train up to the Windy City to celebrate the new nuptials!

Harp's first choo-choo ride -- bright and early boarding time!
My parents were headed to a different wedding in Chicago [crazy coincidence!] so they joined the train-goers.  Harper flitted from seat to seat and had an absolute blast visiting all her grammys and papas and cousins and aunts and uncles! Occasionally she threw a bone of attention to her boring mom and dad... :)  Great Aunt Stephanie packed a whole SUITCASE full of snacks, so she was Harper's BFF for sure...
 Exploring the city:
 Then off to the wedding!
The whole weekend went by so fast!
Not sure when the next roadtrip/vacation will be [...nothing on the books currently], but I'm thinking with the holidays and baby coming, Harper will have to be satisfied with just living in our house for a long while!!! ;)

- Meeska Mooska... -

...MI[NNIE] MOUSE!!!

Oh, toooooodles!

We finally kicked Harper out of her baby bedroom [we aren't the parenting-book-reading type of authority figures, but we thought it may be better to "upgrade" the princess to a new room before Baby F. numero dos makes his/her appearance and needs the crib and Harper feels replaced/booted!]. She's been sleeping in her old frontless crib with a toddler rail for a while now, so we didn't think moving to a regular bed would be too much of a transition. ...And we were right! She loves her new space; and to no one's surprise, she picked "Meee Mowse" [AKA Minnie] for her new room's theme! Bed frame and dresser all compliments of my ole' bachelorette apartment..... ;) ...maybe we'll upgrade Harp to some non-IKEA furniture when we build the new house!

So!

First there was this...

...and then there was this!

There's been a few more furnishings/finishing touches added, but I roll through life at about 80% these days so these are the only pics I have!  But she's been doing awesome in this big new bed, sleeping through the night [in her undies and waking up dry every day, btw!!!] and seeming more and more like a little girl and less and less like a toddler every day!

- Baby[#2]moon! -

The parentals have been pestering us for a while to use a handful of their timeshare points and take a relaxing little roadtrip with Harper before the new baby comes [AKA "baby[#2]moon", even though anything with a "-moon" suffix surely could/would never be relaxing with a toddler in tow...].  Brian was balls to the walls from day one, but I really wasn't sure about the whole thing... I felt bad taking vacation from work when a) I'm trying to save up PTO for maternity leave, and b) I'm gonna have to ditch my co-workers for 3-ish months when the baby comes, so I feel obligated to give it my all and go full speed ahead right up until delivery day.  Also, we just went to Colorado in June...and we're building a house next year and need to save money... But! We pondered and planned and planned some more, and poof! All the plans fell perfectly into place and we hit the road to Florida!

...Not into the hurricane havoc, of course, although my grandma was mortified that we'd be driving sweet, innocent little Harper straight into a natural disaster.

Harper got her first pedi a couple days before the trip; we had to make sure our toes were in tip-top beach shape!
...And then we were off!  12-hour roadtrip, let's gooo!
About two hours into the drive, Harper's motion sickness issue reared it's ugly head after nine months of dormancy.  WHAT THE WHAT!  Shockingly, this [huge] pregnant momma can still bolt to the backseat in <0.3 seconds while the car kept rolling along; but it was 0.3 seconds too late and most of the damage had already been done.  We were in the middle of nowhere and Brian couldn't pull over, so we cleaned what we could with wet wipes and got new clothes at a gas station when we could stop.  Needless to say, Harper couldn't separate with her diva fan, so Brian and I were forced to hold one nostril closed and breathe through the other as the curdled milk puke smell circulated rull strong through the car for the next 10 hours. :/
Oh, and Harper wore her undies and made it accident-free all the way to Florida!!! ...I'm totally jealous of her iron-man bladder... [We did have one minor issue around 9pm when she announced she had to poop and there wasn't any sign of civilization in sight. I continued to coax her in the backseat of how to "hold it in" as Brian finally came up on an exit and took it, only to keep driving for a few miles down the dark road to a neon-lit sign saying, "LION'S DEN: Adult Superstore"....... A few more miles past that was a hole-in-the-wall gas station, and long story short, we made it to a PG-rated potty and Brian sprinted inside with Harper and all was swell.]

After a long! long! super longgg drive, we made it to the beach!!!
The toddler tyrant talked us into toting her creepy baby around 24/7; we literally could not escape the room without it as evidenced in half of the photos below. Brian refused to be seen in public carrying it, which left me looking like the fool who had to request an extra beach chair or highchair everywhere we went..... #thetoddlergetswhatthetoddlerwants
The pool was just as big of a hit as the beach [if not a bigger hit!], and Harper made HUGE strides with her confidence in the water!

"Momma, ees dor-gessss! I wan' take a pee-chur!" ...I have a full camera roll of Harper's [blurry yet] prized pics. :)

Paradise!  We went shopping the first night to get Brian some new swim trunks [end of the season sale, too!]. I asked the store clerk if they had any maternity suits and, after a full up-and-down eye check of my colossal-ness, she said, "Naw, you just gonna have to buy an extra lawrrrrge from over derr." Thanks, dude. [For the record, I already know I'm extra large, but I don't need swimsuit cups that could hold a bowling ball...yet.]

Love these two with all my heart!!!

We were in Destin three years ago when Harper was in utero, and we found ourselves migrating right back to the same restaurants we loved back then... The Back Porch and The Donut Hole, to name a couple!

Breakfast on the porch patio!

The beach was a little boat-ride away from our hotel, so we usually hit that adventure up every morning before washing all the sand off and retreating back to the pool...
...And in my infamous style, some family pics on the last night! Tons more of those right over here...
The days came and went, and before we knew it, it was time to leave! Harper got a special footrest on the way home [a couple cases had to overflow from the trunk], compliments of her Yuengling-loving dad and all his beer-guzzling friends...
She said she wanted to stay on "vay-shen" and live at the hotel forever, but we had to burst her bubble.  I think she still had some sweet dreams of the waves washing up and her little toes in the sand! <3

Thanks again, Mom and Dad, for giving us these points! Y'all were right in the end: I need to be more sporadic and spontaneous like Brian is, because it was an awesome "relaxing little roadtrip" with Harper!  And of courseeee, we're so so glad we had this time to hang as a family of three before all our lives change forever! :)
