- Bumpdating through 2018! -

You can betcha' bottom dolla that I have every Christmas picture ...AND MORE...[and more and more] that my tried and true 'ole fingers could've possibly snapped, but! I'll be saving those beauties for the archives for now [maybe they'll surface by Easter 2018?], because !!!HAPPY 2018!!! and this budding little big baby is about to full-blown BLOOM and he/she/it has not had a lick of attention on the blog for months!

...It also turns out "trimesters" are a thing of the past; when it comes to Baby F. #2, "halves" will have to do! I last squeaked out a sub-par post re: 4-20 weeks right on ova' here, and I'm just now finally showing [puffy prego] face today to highlight 21-39 weeks!

Second baby syndrome: it's legit.

...We of courseeee do still love you, Baby F. numero dos! ;) ;)

To bridge the last 20-week gap [in a nutshell]: I'm 39 weeks today, and we're all still on TEAM BOY [!!!] over here thanks to significantly less a) vomiting, b) swelling, and c) overall pregnancy misery... I still never achieved that glamorous, glowing pregnant momma status this time around, but this little fetus has treated me much better overall than Harper ever did! Aside from said symptoms, I have no other reason to be so dead set on the male gender; but I'm totally feelin' "dude" and stickin' with it! :)  Since ~24 weeks, this little guy [dare I say it?!] has been SO ACTIVE and has rarely stopped moving!  I love his aggressive kicks and big rolls and even the hourly bladder punches; although I'm ginormousss and definitely well parked in the uncomfortable garage, I absolutely love knowing that he/she is tucked tightly in there and will be with me, perfectly protected from the crazy outside world, wherever I go!

Ho-kayyy, enough sappy/sentimental jabbering. Onward to the updates bumpdates that no one aside from my mom and grandma [and me in 10 years] will give rat's @$$ about...

Baby F. #2 started off my second half of pregnancy right by helping us welcome this charming little man into the world:
^^ This guy's big sister was born two days after Harper was, so I was also lucky enough to waddle over from my postpartum bed and be a part of her delivery a couple years ago, too! So fun! Welcome, Parker! You are so loved, and I can't wait to see if Baby F. will be your best friend or girlfriend! :D

A couple weeks later, we scooted off to Destin [right into hurricane city!] to spend a last little bit of time as a "family of three" together.  The days with Harper as our only child are dwindling [down to seven or less as of today!], and so I'm incredibly grateful that we had this trip and could watch her explore the water and waves and truly focus on just her and how much we love her!!!  [Separate posts/pics re: .so.much.fun. on the babymoon!] ...Hormonal prego fingers typing here...don't hate!
This pregnancy has been quite the journey for Harper, too... We lovingly booted her out of her crib-turned-toddler-bed in the 'ole nursery around 24 weeks so she'd have time to adjust to her big girl room before baby came.  She wanted to decorate in Minnie Mouse theme, and it turned out really cute!  We are thrilled that she is loving her new space!
^^ Oh, and then there's the fact that Harper thinks she's pregnant, too..... Every time her little tummy growls, she looks up with a side-eye and sweet smile and says, "Hey, you hear my baby?" At first it was all fun and games, but at this point I'm a little worried she'll be disappointed when the [real] baby arrives as a singleton because she absolutely thinks there will be two newborns in the house next week! [Also, she has been educating Brian about how "our" deliveries will go: "Daddy, 'dose babies will just slip right out!" ...And for that outcome, I can only hope!!!]

Hey there, 26w fetus hiding nicely in the corner behind yo' big sister and her sore thigh status-post flu shot!  Ribbit the ice pack and Wendy's frostie for the half-win...
...^^ and six days later, 27w fetus not hiding at all. #whalewoman #thirdtrimester #doesthebabyreallyplantokeepgrowing??!?

I also outgrew all of Brian's t-shirts sometime in the early third trimester, so of course that was a huge boost for my self-confidence [especially considering I made it to 37 or 38 weeks with Harper before having to retreat to my dad's closet...]. And around the beginning of third tri was the same time was when the infamous comments started. Noted are a few not-favorites:

Bearded hillbilly in hallway at hospital: "MANNNN that's preganant! When ya' due?! I mean, you got a pretty face hunny, but MAN, thattttt is pregnant!"
Me: "............Thanks."

Friend of the family that knows better but still had to open his trap:  "Wow! Your mom told me you were big, but YOU'RE BIG! Is it a boy or a girl?! Oh wait, I think it's both!" *laughs hysterically*
Me: "...Ha, ha. It's a surprise, thanks."

Well-intentioned handicapped boy that collects our outgoing mail from the office, standing one inch away from my face: "It's not hard to tell you are pregnant!"

...Oh, and just the typical, common, "Well you look like you're about to pop!" and "That looks miserable!" and "You poor girl!" from literally every other person I pass at work or at the store.

Lastly, my personal favorite [but this one didn't come until 37 weeks thankfully]:
Woman at church: "How many hours left 'til delivery?!"
Me: "Three weeks, actually!"
Woman at church: *eyes bugged so big I would've thought she was witnessing the second coming of Jesus*

...It's great that I don't already have underlying body image issues because...whoa. Go stick yo' feet in yo' mouth, crazy @$$e$!!!  *sigh* No time to revel in the bad and ugly...

Upward and onward! I boosted up my confidence for a short period right before spiraling back downwards into panic mode at 27w when I failed the one-hour glucose test.  Gestational diabetes is all shi*ts and giggles until it's no sh*ts and no giggles... And on the horizon were Halloween! Thanksgiving! Christmas! And every other day in between 'dem holidays that calls for a donut or something of the like...!!! This momma is fueled by carbs, so I waited with sweaty palms and bated breath for my three-hour test to result...and of course had another donut to celebrate when I finally passed. #phew #GDMisnotthelifeforme #donutsforeverandever
On to a positive note highlighting Harper and Baby F. #2's first Blues game:
A fun little peek at our nugget!  [PS - These random ultrasound pics are just a little big benefit of working in an OB office complete with a brand new ultrasound machine.  Any time someone needed some training on the machine, I was the lucky ...and only... go-to pregnant girl/guinea pig in sight! Of course that doesn't bother me any... Always love getting quick glimpses at those chubby cheeks and kissable lips!]
Annnnnnd time to throw down the holidays!
^^ Halloween and Thanksgiving and Christmas..... Sooo many parties and festivities and CARBS and did I mention already how happy I was to barely escape GDM?! SO HAPPY.
All the sudden it was mid-December and time for my lasssssst 12-hour labor and delivery shift before delivery! Wowza! I have a picture like this from my last [miserable] night shift with Harper, and sooo...for the sake of continuity/new tradition:
^^ The next day was deemed a total LAZY DAY, because holy sore pelvis and body... I don't know how I ever ever ever worked full time 12-hour night shifts up until the day I delivered Harper, but I must've had a lesser case of wuss-itis back in 2015 or somethinggg because yow.  So happy this was my last floor shift! When we woke up that next morning and Brian had already left for work, I flopped back down in bed and said, "This baby wears me out!" and Harper kicked herself back too exclaiming, "MY baby wear ME out, tooooo!" ...That sweet little mini-me; she gets me every time!

Newsflash: TERM! Only a few more weeks to go... Baby was all wadded up and looks like he/she is running out of room to stretch out! Still so in love with those little lips!
Annnnd Merry Christmas!!! More [and more and more, as earlier promised] Christmas posting to come! :)
Whew!

It's so so soooo crazy to wrap my mind around the fact that 2018 is here...

...and I'm actually finally really 39 weeks pregnant with this little miracle that we waited for for so long...

...and in SEVEN DAYS [or less! I'm hoping for less!], we'll become a family of four and be holding and swaddling and cuddling a tiny little human that we already love so very much!!!  We were at a family New Year's Eve party last night, and as I watched the ball drop and the confetti explode, I couldn't help but be so excited about the year ahead and all that awaits us!

The best is truly yet to come!!!

^^ Cheers to that, for our family and all of your families, as well! May 2018 bless all of us with an abundant amount of happiness, healthiness, and holiness... May we find something to be grateful for every single day!!! Signing off for now; next time I check in, I hope it's to update with an announcement of our newest addition! :-* :-*

- Christmassssstime is here... -

.....so fa-la-la-la-laaaaa, la-la-la-LA!

Newsflash: I'm super behind on archiving life [I know, so shocking!].   But Harper jetted off to "Coddo-rado" for a couple days with Grammy and Papa, so today's shaping up to be the day to catch it alllll up; and FREEDOM OF SPEECH be mine!!! And just plain ole' freedom, too. Current situation: lounging at Panera with a steaming latte, feeling a tiny bit guilty that I'm not home washing newborn clothes ...or furiously deep cleaning the house before baby arrives ...or tying all the final strings on Christmas plans/gifts/festivities ...BUT, I realized that this is my first full day to myself [I mean, not working at the hospital or hanging out with Harp...like legit .T.O. .M.Y.S.E.L.F.] in 2.75 years and will probably be the last full day for another 2.75+ years so! I think I'm about to order a couple boxes of newborn diapers via Amazon Prime and call it a wash.  Bring on alllll the guilty pleasure, 'cause I'mma soak it up rull good.

[[And welcome to the motherload of my long mother-effing posts... You're a saint if you survive this one!]]

Thanksgiving came and went and we hopped right into the Christmas spirit! Black Friday shopping is/was a thing of the past [because I become extremely short of breath just moving from the recliner to the kitchen table and SO ...regardless of the killer sales... busy stores and pushing/shoving to the hottest items and long lines did not appease this year], but off to a local Christmas festival we went! Uncle Mo had his petting zoo here, and Harper lovedddd feeding the goats!
Decorating the house for Christmas was soon to follow! Harper was a very good helper this year, although she refused to change out of her mismatched pajamas all weekend! :)
..."Oh come let us adore ...and adore and adore and adoreeeee... Him, Chriiiiiiiist the Lord!"  And even a generous portion of birthday cake and a bottle of milk for Baby Jesus!  Holidays with toddlers: my absolute favorite!!!
Next up: Wild Lights at the Zoo!  Continuing the Christmas festivities in spirit and style AND not complaining about the typical 50-degree midwest winter weather... Thanks for the invite, Kate!
And then came the Croatian Lodge Christmas party + annual pics with Santa Claus:
...which was a HUGE improvement from the Santa pics last year! :)

Happy birthday, [Great] Grandma!!! We hope this year will be your best one yet!
Let's see; what else, what elseeeee??? Oh, yes, the POLAR EXPRESS!!! Allllll aboard the choo-choo train!
This was soooo much fun; I wondered if Harper would maybe be too little to enjoy it or understand the "ride" to the North Pole, but I'm so happy we ordered tickets. The cast on the train was amazing and kept us laughing and singing and on our toes for the entire ride.  Highly recommend to any family looking for a fun Christmas adventure!!!

Factor in a little Christmas season crafting...
 ...and Christmas season baking...

...and it'll lead ya' straight to some Christmas season exhaustion!
^^ This is juuuust about my current mood, too, so signing off for now!  It seems so crazy that Christmas Day will be here in T minus SIX days; wishing you and yours all the joy and peace and love of the most wonderful time of the year!!! :-*

- ...thankful...grateful...blessed... -

Extra extra THANKFUL this year for family and health and faith and memories friendship and love and tradition and ...the best is yet to come and I just can't even fathom all the undeserved blessings I've been given.  Thanksgiving is quite possibly my favorite holiday [even though I feel like I probably say that about every holiday]; but really! I love our laid back morning ritual: Black Friday ads and Starbucks and the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.  Excitement and caffeine and relaxation with my two favorite people in the entire world; can't beat it!!!
[FLASHBACK FRIDAY of a #thenandnow, because why not?]
At lunch time, we headed down to Brian's uncle's house...
...and then spent dinner at my aunt's house!
It was an amazing day jam-packed full of food and family and all things I want to always cherish and never take for granted!

Happy Thanksgiving! #thankful #grateful #blessed

- When your FRIENDS become FAMILY... -

...you throw a nice little pre-Thanksgiving party called "Friendsgiving!"
Love this crazy bunch of peeps that I am so very lucky to also call "coworkers" and "friends!" Thankful for all of you!  :-*

- LGB! -

Yeah, LGB!!! We screamed it at the top of lungs from the snack bar, because....... Well, here's the story:

Brian scored some last minute, all-inclusive, FOURTH ROW tickets from his work. We immediately secured a babysitter [thanks, Aunt Laura!] and then began searching for a couple of friends to head to Scottrade with us. It was only a 3-hour notice, but who could turn down these tix?! Surely no one.

Long story short?

Everyone and their dogs turned down 'dem tix, so Harper and Aunt Laura eagerly agreed to the change of plans and got gussied up to go. :) #donedeal The four of us got there a little early to take advantage of the free food/drink spread [chicken breasts, nachos, hot dogs, pasta, deli-meat trays, popcorn, the list goes on and on!].

Then!

Right when the game started, we headed down...down...down...down to the ice and parked it in our high class, [baaaasically] front row seats.

Forty seconds in, three players [AKA three 300-lb full-grown-ass men with no teeth] skated/slammed rightttt into the glass in front of us. A few seconds later, a drunk man behind us was screaming profanities at the players.  And then right after that, one of the teams scored [not even sure if it was the Blues or our opponent because I was distracted by a mortified monkey trying to climb up my person] and that obnoxious honking horn went off x 3.  And that was it.  Harper isn't a fan of loud noises, and three minutes of her screaming her head off and soaking her shirt with ginormous crocodile tears was enough for this momma! :/  She and I retreated to the hallways to "take a break"...

...which turned into my midget bee-lining back to the free food bar and parkin' it rull good.
I gave her another plate of food ...and popcorn ...and water ...and then asked if she was ready to go back into the game and sit by Daddy and Laura.  Nope! Not a chance. We watched the rest of the game from the snack bar, and Daddy and Laura came to visit us in between periods!

...For sh*ts and giggles, we went up to the window to collect her "My First Game" certificate. Ha...ha...ha... So classic; can't wait to tape this one in her baby scrapbook.
Harp was very proud of her certificate, though, and was all smiles on the way to the car. Although she did say next time she'd rather stay home and play with Aunt Laura.  Crazy little missy! :)
