- THREE MONTHS -

1/4 of the way to her first birthday.....whattttttt in the world?!?

Sweet Juliette,

Let me just start this off by saying YOU SLEPT 7 HOURS IN A ROW literally the night after I wrote your 2 month post full of complaints re: having your days/nights allllll mixed up.  "Surely this was a huge fluke," we thought... But nope! The night after the 7-hour miracle you slept 6.5 hours, and the night after that 6 hours, and the night after that 7 hours again! Woohoooooo, sister; I didn't want to speak too soon and jinx us, but one month deep into champion sleeping makes me pretty confident to announce that you've figured out this whole nighttime thing!  Admittedly, between a) my full-of-milk boobies that took a hot second to adjust to your new overnight habits and b) waking up in a panic every once in while thinking you must be dead because it's impossible for you to sleep so long without stirring, my nights of good sleep lagged a few weeks behind yours.  But now we're pretty much all in the groove of 8-10 hour night stretches and IT IS AMAZE-BALLS!!!  New, refreshed mama on the loose...watch out world!

In other [not as great of] news, we realized this month that you absolutely WOULD NOT take bottles anymore!  There were no issues with bottle-feeding in September; but I guess after a week of hanging with just Mommy while the rest of the family was on vacation and then another two weeks of more Mommy time while Daddy had COVID, you got quite used to breastfeeding and wanted nothing to do with a pumped bottle any longer!  After trying literally every piece of advice that Google had to offer, I discussed the issue with your pediatrician at the 2-month well child visit.  She suggested that I leave the house for 4-5 hour stretches to see if you would take a bottle from Daddy in my absence.  NO LUCK.  Right before we were at our wit's end and clutching the OT referral paper, you finally gave in and took 0.5 oz! #victory  Now, a month later, you certainly don't prefer bottles, but you will suck them down slowly and grudgingly ONLY in Mommy's absence!  The pediatrician concluded that there's not a "real problem" and that you're just finicky -- which in my mind seems like more of a problem since we can't fix finicky! LOL!

...And speaking of Mommy's absence, I started back to work on Mondays and Thursdays when you were 9 weeks old!  You've been loving Grammy Daycare on Mondays and Daddy Daycare on Thursdays [and thankfully aren't starting "real daycare" until January!].  It's been a pretty easy transition back to part-time separation for both of us!

ALSO THIS MONTH!  You survived a cousin photoshoot in our back yard...

...enjoyed a few stroller rides on the nature trails...

...stayed wide-eyed to ring in *BOTH* 2ams of Daylight Savings Time...

...went to your first birthday party [HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Henry and Caroline!] and met some new friends and Great Aunts...

...enjoyed Friendsgiving with Mommy's work friends and Thanksgiving with both sides of the family...

...and suffered through your first parade [bundled up with Mommy or Daddy d/t 30-degreee weather]!

You are still the most adored family member with everyone fighting over snuggle time!

We love your sweet little "go with the flow" personality and can't wait to see what new things you'll do this month!

ALL THE X'S AND O'S!!!!! :-* :-*

- Super J's FIRST T-Day! -

I have had this post full of pics pended now for...drumroll...1.5 years [!!]...and so!  Gonna go ahead and "time hop" the date back to 2021 and try my memory [or, better yet, try to let the photos can tell the story of how we celebrated T-Day 2021!].

On the school front, 8th grade/1st grade buddies made crafts together at school as a Thanksgiving week team project...

...and Pre-K3 got an assignment of taste testing alllll the Thanksgiving Day foods! *SPOILER ALERT* -- Scarlett only sprang for the carbs and desserts, although she did try a little of everything! I guess the apple doesn't fall far from the tree! ;)

Then!  The real T-Day rolled in like a bag of hot cross buns [what?], as Super J woke up at ~5am on Thanksgiving morning to help Mommy do a little pre-Black Friday cyber shopping...

...before falling back asleep for a 5:30-7am nap and then reawakening to experience our family's Thanksgiving traditions! WHICH ARE: Starbucks coffee...

...browsing/clipping Black Friday ads...
...and watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade...

...before heading off to lunch with Brian's family...

...and dinner with my family...

...annnnnnd that's a wrap!  Our Thanksgiving Day traditions are so predictable at this point that this post could probably pen itself next year!

Happy T-Day, friends!  I am ever so thankful for you!  <3

- Pumpkin Patchin' -

Although quarantine chewed up about 75% of October [which just sooooo unfortunately happens to be my favorite month of the whole entire year, rawrrr] and therefore severely limited our ability to do anything fun for Halloween until the ACTUAL Halloween weekend, ain't no chance we were gonna pass up our annual trip to the pumpkin patch!  Halloween Day was a chilly one, but we celebrated it in style by taking some sista pics that morning...

...[shirts and bows by Cecilia Clare & Co.]...

...and then meeting our cousins at the local patch to make alllll those petting zoo/corn maze/pumpkin-pickin'/FEEL GOOD memories!  #dontmindifido #betterRIGHTontimethannever #happyhalloween !

As we were bundling up to go, we decided the wind was probably a little too chilly for Juliette [we've learned over the 2 months of her short life that she is not at all a fan of cold wind gusts in her face!], so she stayed home to enjoy some fire-side snuggles with Daddy.  Then! After dumping a the trunk load of our pumpkin/gourd loot on the porch at home, the fire-side snugglers joined us in the van and we headed out for dinner!

Is it the scary ghost shirt or Scarlett's witch fingers or maybe the fact that Mommy ate too many hot wings?! ...We'll never ever know, but -- overall -- Juliette enjoyed her first Halloween Day fo' sho'! :)

Happy Halloween, ghosts and goblins!!!

- Cruella De Vil, Cruella De Vil... -

...if she doesn't scare you, no evil thing will!  Halloween 2021 had us barking around like:

Maybe I like dressing up for Halloween or maybe I've actually morphed into Cruella, but 'DIS IS SO ME RIGHT NOW:

PS - Sorry over and over and over again to 'da people I never texted back during our October hell!  But!  Praise be to God that, after surviving a 2+ week COVID quarantine experience [the one that I already moaned and groaned about here], we busted out of our humble abode JUST.IN.TIME to celebrate one of the best holidays of the year!  HAPPY HALLOWEEN, PUPS!!!

Between pumpkin carving at Uncle Brant's...

...[which Scarlett slept all the way through]...

...a visit to Boo at the Zoo with Grammy + Papa and Margy + Steve...

...[which Juliette did not enjoy thanks to a bone-chilling wind that kept gusting over her face]...

...and a walk through a haunted house in town...
...[which, surprisingly, everyone seemed to like... But it was literally someone's house that they decorate from top to bottom for Halloween every year; and it was raining the night we went, and all kinds of people were trudging through this house with their wet, dirty shoes, AND THE CARPET!  The carpet!  I couldn't get over the mess these poor people will have to clean up the day after Halloween!  Their carpet was sooo ruined!]...

...we were able to squeeze in alllllll the holiday fun!  The kids also had costume parties at school...

...and then we had a costume/trick-or-treating party at our house on Halloween Eve!

We especially loved dressing up Juliette for her very first Halloween!  She strolled around the neighborhood trick-or-treating with us and every now and then barked out a little rhyme like, "Woof! Woof! Look at me! I'm the cutest little puppy you EVER DID SEE!"  *heart eye emojis forever* for all 3 of my mini-dalmatians!

Of course, the best part is examining/counting/EATING the candy loot right before bed!

Look out for Cruella De Vil!
