- SEVEN MONTHS -

Pretty sure I've said this every single month so far, but SEVEN MONTHS is the best month!!! For real this time. :)

J-Bear, you are A DREAM!  This month was a big turning point for you as you've totally mastered rolling over [back-to-tummy and tummy-to-back; there's no stopping you now!] and sitting up like a big girl!  You seem much more content now that you can sit up in a pile of toys and play the day away.  Harper and Scarlett love to build you a little fort to sit in, and you absolutely love chewing on every bone toy they throw your way while always whipping your head back and forth on a 180* range to catch every glimpse of action going on.  You love to have a [large] bowl of Gerber oatmeal for breakfast and aren't shy to indulge in pureed green beans, peas, or sweet potatoes for lunch!  At dinner we've been repeating the veggies and/or mushing up a [sort of rotting] soft banana.  You love Ritz/club crackers and Gerber Puffs as well!  The pediatrician instructed us the day of your 6-month visit to feed you peanut butter that afternoon and then eggs the next day [apparently new research is showing that early and frequent exposure to high-allergen foods decreases chance of food allergy?], and you nailed it with both. The only foods we've found so far that you repeatedly shudder at are applesauce [too tart?] and fruit popsicles [too cold?], but we'll give ya another shot to acquire those tastes!

We've had a horrible time with patchy/dry skin for the past 1.5 months. It weirdly started right around  6 months when you first had the baby oatmeal, but the pediatrician reassured me that it was probably just dry skin from the dry, cold winter air and/or eczema [?] and nothing rash-wise related to grain/gluten/foods.  We limit your baths to every 4-5 days and rub you down with Aquaphor or coconut oil a couple times a day!  Most recently I've had great luck with Young Living Kidscents lotion and Aveeno Baby Eczema Therapy [some sort of thick night time balm that Aunt Hollie recommended!], and -- PRAISE THE GOOD LORD -- your skin is like 90% baby soft again!  I am so happy to find two lotions/balms that work, because you are really enjoying bath time lately and totally loved your first swim at the YMCA... So if we get your dry skin under control, I see lots more water time in your future! :)

The beginning of this month started out a little rough as you slipped down a deep, dark hole of being SO SPOILED with always wanting to be held and only being able to nap in someone's arms!  I hit my breaking point with all of it a few weeks back and decided it was time to sleep train!  After just a week of riding the struggle bus, you and I got it all figured out. I AM SO PROUD OF US!  You are napping multiple times a day in your crib like a champ and waking up happier than ever. Go girl, go!

No teeth yet, but you continue to gnaw and chew on literally EVERYTHING you can get up to your mouth!  You found your tongue this month and have it stuck out most of the day. :)  When your tongue isn't out, you're babbling constantly and making all kinds of new sounds! You take bottles without a problem these days, but you still 100% prefer to nurse if mommy's kitchen is open for business [which, conveniently for you, it is open 24/7 other than on Mondays/Thursdays when I go to work!].

This month, you celebrated Harper's 7th birthday, Mommy's 33rd birthday, and your very first St. Patrick's Day! We are so very lucky in love with you!!!

On to another month of growing and changing and hitting new milestones!  Thanks for bringing all of us along for the ride... We are enamored by you, Juli Muffin!!!

- Science Center -

In celebration of an early dismissal, the end of the 3rd quarter, and Harper's GREAT report card, we darted off for a Friday afternoon "family field trip" to the Science Center!  With COVID consuming the world for the last 2.5 years, it's been a hot minute since we've been to this fascinating place.  The kids had zero recollection of ever visiting here before, so it was a very fun-filled afternoon!

From the tornados to the roller coasters to the foam block arch and everything in between, I loved watching the kids' brain wheels churning and turning!

Until next time...

- Out of the mouth of babes: VOL XXXIII -

Randomly:
Scarlett:  "Daddy, did you get hurt?"
Brian:  "No, why?"
Scarlett:  "Because I wanted to put one of my Peppa Band-Aids on you!"

A few days before her birthday:
Me:  "Scarlett, what do you want for your birthday?"
Scarlett:  "Ummmmm, maybe a belly button-showing shirt?"
Me:  .....

At dinner on same said day ^^:
Brian:  "What would you do if a puppy showed up on the doorstep on your birthday?"
Scarlett, without hesitation:  "POB-EE [probably] give him a dog tweet [treat]!"
Harper:  "But Scarlett, we don't have dog treats..."
Scarlett:  "Well we can buy some, a-memba [remember]?!"

Still at dinner:
Me:  "Scarlett, what are you going to do when everyone sings, 'Happy Birthday!' to you?"
Scarlett:  "I am gonna sing, 'Happy Birthday!' to myself wif 'dem!"

On the way to pick up Harper at school:
Scarlett:  "Mommy, where does a hose get all it's wata [water] from?"
Me:  "It's connected to a pipe that the water flows through."
Scarlett:  "Where does 'da wata come from?"
Me: "From a water plant."
Scarlett:  "Ohhh, a plant, I gotcha.  'Den where do all 'da leafs on 'da ground come from?"
Me:  "The trees grew them."
Scarlett:  "Oh.  I fought [thought] 'da trees lost dere [there] leaves."
Me: .....

While examining her clip-on earring collection:
Brian: "Which ones can I wear?"
Scarlett:  "Daddddddd!  Boys.  Witer-a-wee [literally].  Don't.  Wear.  Earrings."

While looking at herself in the mirror the night of her 4th birthday:
"I still look 'da same!  But I don't fink [think] I wook [look] AS wittle [little] as I oo-sed [used] to... Wait a second, am I gonna turn free [three] eva' eva' again?!"

While cleaning their room before bed:
Scarlett, the clean sister:  "HAW-PA. COME HELP ME CWEAN UP.  RIGHT NOW! ELSE YOU WILL BE GWOUNDED [grounded] FOR 'DA WEST [rest] OF YO' LIFE!  Come on. CWEAN. Right now!!!"
Harper, the messy sister:  .....

After waking up one morning:
"I fink [think] I will have oint-meal [oatmeal] for breakfast!"

While drinking a fancy cocktail of cranberry juice + Sprite:
Scarlett:  "When I drink 'dis juice and 'prite it makes my 'agina [vagina] feel wee-yud [weird]!"
Brian, Harper, me:  .....

A few hours after getting her 4-year-old shots:
"I fink [think] I have a broken bone because I can't wheely [really] walk very good!"

A full day after said shots ^^ and limping around for 24+ hours:
"Mommy, I am feeling betta [better] but dose [those] shots WHEEEELY [really] got me!"

While playing with her Barbies:
"Yeah, yeah, yeahhhhhh I KNOWWW, is the reason we can't come pway [play] at yo' house is because we have COH-VIDDDD and we are co-wen-teening [quarantining] so we don't get anybody else sick, ok?  ...But maybe we can pway next week, 'dat be ok?"

Randomly:
Scarlett:  "What does, 'I wuv [love] you!' mean?"
Me:  "It means you really like someone and you care about them."
Scarlett:  "Oh. Well I telled Ms. Nicole that I wuved her."
Me:  "Aw, that's nice! And what did she say?"
Scarlett:  "She sayed, "I wuv you too, Scah-lett!"

- Seven is SUPER! -

**********

Happy birthday to the biggest girl on [our] block!  This fun girl was not mad at that her friend Drew crashed her sister/cousin sleepover on her birthday eve... We let him share in the fun and festivities for a bit before feeding him ice cream and kicking him back next door where his parents were! ;) :)

Then, it was slummmmmmber party time for the girls!

The following morning was Saturday -- AKA party day! After donning their gymnastics leos, both girls fell asleep on the top bunk for a quick sleep sesh before the gymnastics-themed party.

3...2...1.............TIME TO PAR-TAY!!! :)

Truly hard to believe that this girl is SEVEN!

Sunday was Harper's REAL birthday, and our church friends did not forget her special day during the donut social after Mass!

We also hit up a little playplace in town with some of our favorite cousins to celebrate the special day!

Happy birthday, Harper Cecilia! You are loved beyond measure!!! :)

- PARTY FOR MARDI! -

We got a last minute invite to the local Mardi Gras parade with our cousins this year and -- especially after Grammy and Papa offered to babysit Juliette for a couple of hours -- we couldn't say no!  It was a chilly day, but we bundled up rull good, packed some plastic sacks for parade treasures, and hit the road without looking back.  The kids had a wonderful time and were in wide-eyed awe of the craziness [at least the "craziness" that ensued towards the "family friendly" end of the parade route, which really wasn't anything too crazy at all, lol].

There were    s  o  o  o  o  o  o     m  a  n  y    beads, and the girls were quite excited to show them all off to Grammy and Juliette when we got home!
