...Hopping off my soapbox.
Holy sh*t.
But oh, one more flame to fuel the fire:
I'm sitting in Starbucks this morning soaking up a couple hours of "Mommy's coveted alone time" -- AKA a rare occasion that invokes the Mom-guilt like none other but a very well-deserved and appreciated occasion nonetheless! ...And so anyway, there's this man sitting a couple chairs away and -- while I'm not normally an eavesdropper -- I can't help but be consumed by his bold, boisterous voice and current phone conversation. And I repeat verbatim: "Ok! Listen. Sit down ...put your head between your... 'you know what' ...and then stick it up your other... 'you know what' ...because if Trump wins the election I know G.D. well that this is the apocalypse! Jesus is comin' back soon to save us all." Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, AMEN. Dear Jesus, please pleaseee come soon.
And I officially digress fo rizzle, because Satan suck me in if I even step on the quicksand that is weighing in on the presidential race. That ^^ rant took me WAY too far off focus for the original intention of this post.
Back to the basics...
Colorado.
This short-intended-but-now-long-winded post was supposed to be like: "Last week, we took a family vacation to Colorado. We had a week packed full of fun, carefree family time that totally made me remember how refreshing faith and hope and love is in light of all the bad an ugly things happening in the world today." <--- Really, that's all I wanted to say.
So...
Uncle Blake hadn't seen Harper since she was about 9 months old; therefore, this was a much anticipated reunion for all parties! Harper got to take her first airplane ride, too! :) Walking is a new accomplishment and Little Miss is just thrilled with her mobile self. She LOVED the wide-open terminals...
...and the tourist trap stores...
With 20 minutes left to go in the flight, she finally zonked out...
...and woke up in Colorado!!! The steps of Uncle Blake's condo were a hit!
...also rode the gondola up to the top of the mountain... [Harper wasn't a fan!]
Took a hike later that afternoon...
...of which Blake assured me this was the "shortest, flattest" hike he knew of; of course we could do it easily....However, it wasn't short OR flat in my opinion, but the views sure were worth it!!! [Go ahead and laugh away at my lazy @$$; yes, I realize the photos below do depict a rather flat trail! But there were many a steep inclines in the 4-mile trek.]
Sarge loved chasing sticks in the lilypad pond at the end.
Only two days into vacation, we decided we could get used to this disgusting food and ugly landscape...... ;)
Uncle Blake is pretty great, but his doggy is even better! Harper officially has a new BFF! She learned her first two words the day we arrived: dog [AKA "gog"] and woof. She pointed at Sarge every 2 minutes yelling "gog!" and "woof!" on repeat........
Of course when Sarge wasn't around, Uncle Blake got a bit more attention... ;)
Mid-week, we decided to rent a pontoon boat and take it out on Lake Dillon for a few hours. This was a definite hit for all!!!

Naps all around! The only square inch of my body that wasn't fried to a crisp were three little bitty finger marks where someone swiped me with her 70-SPF... ;)
Some of the best memories made were during the times we just hung at the condo. My dad tore up and refinished one of the bathrooms upstairs, so while he worked we had plenty of time to "play" and explore the green area outside the condo property. Even found a few waterfalls down the road!
On the last evening, Blake took us to Frisco for dinner and drinks! Harper found a store called Little Bear's Boutique and talked her Daddy into buying her a stuffed bear souvenir. :) ;) [She hasn't let go of it all week since we've been home, either!!]

Last morning in the centennial state called for a little tripod + family photo action! Say cheeseeeee!
A few goodbyes and hugs and off to the airport we went! I carried Harper + old bunny + new bear all around the airport and through security as she wouldn't let loose of either... #diva

She walked right through the security checkpoint metal detectors like a big girl and got a TSA "Junior Officer" sticker badge from the awesome security officer! She and Daddy caught some zzzzz's during the flight...
...and just like that, we tapped our ruby red strawberry footies and were home again!
Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU, Uncle Blake, for hosting us all week!!! We had an awesome adventure and made a lifetime of memories; it was a week for the record books fo sho!!!
...But dontcha worry... As soon as we need another sweet escape from the craziness of the world and are ready for another week of mountain isolation, we'll be back... ;) ;) :) :-*
Hearts, hearts, hearts all around!!! But now? #backtoreality
